A recent example of a Computer Recycling Northampton service provided: A large airport based locally, were changing over their POS systems and management computer systems. This was a tough task as all the systems were in use 24/7. They required all waste computers to be removed, the minute they were being replaced along with the hard drive being removed and left with the airport so they had access to any data if they required it at a later date.
Revive IT were able to offer them a free collection service as well as having the vehicles there as they were being removed. This had to be undertaken whilst the airport was very quiet, which was at midnight. One of our vehicles attended the site at midnight to complete the service. As the POS computers were removed, they were loaded into a cage provided by Revive IT Recycling and then transported to the vehicle tail lift where they were securely loaded into the vehicle. Of course all hard drives were removed prior to loading and left with the airport IT Technicians. No data destruction was required for this service provision but they did require a normal duty of care note along with a hazardous consignment note. Due to the airport not producing over 500KG a year of hazardous components, they weren’t required to register as a hazardous waste producer or holder.
